The per-square bands are published installed prices for the Boise/Treasure Valley area — material and labor together, by panel system. Exposed-fastener runs $700–$1,200 per square, standing seam steel $1,000–$1,800, aluminum $1,100–$1,700, and copper/zinc $2,000–$4,000. What the multipliers do
Pitch adjusts the base band rather than replacing it. A standard 4/12–7/12 roof uses the base labor rate; an 8/12-or-steeper roof adds 25% because it needs roof anchors, harnesses, and slower staging to work safely. Tear-off and deck repair are added as separate line items rather than folded into the material price, so you can see exactly what is driving your number.
What it deliberately does not do
It does not ask for your email before showing you a number, and it does not pretend to be a quote. This is a budgeting estimate built from published 2026 installed metal-roofing pricing for the Boise/Treasure Valley area, not a quote. Your actual price depends on your roof's specific size, pitch, number of penetrations, panel gauge, and deck condition. A binding number comes from a free on-site inspection.
Questions
About this calculator
How accurate is this roof cost calculator?
It is built from published installed pricing for the Boise/Treasure Valley area, so it is a reliable budgeting range rather than a quote. It will get you within the right band for a straightforward job. What it cannot see is your specific roof — deck condition, the exact pitch, how many valleys and penetrations you have. Those are what move a job inside its range, and they are what the free on-site inspection is for.
Why does the calculator ask about tear-off separately?
Because it is a real cost most homeowners do not budget for. Tear-off adds $40–$100 per square and covers stripping the old roofing down to the deck, hauling it away, and inspecting what is underneath. Some bids leave it off to look cheaper — including it from the start avoids that surprise.
Does the estimate include deck or sheathing repair?
Only if you check that box. Most roofs do not need it, but where deck damage exists, it typically runs $75–$150 per sheet. If you are not sure whether your roof needs it, leave that box unchecked — a free inspection will tell you for certain.
